What Gorgias does well
Credit where it's due - this isn't a tool without a reason to exist.
- Deep, mature Shopify integration - macros, tags, and automation rules built over years, plus an AI Agent that genuinely acts on Shopify orders: cancel, edit the shipping address, remove or replace an item, reship for free
- Multi-channel out of the box: live chat, Instagram/Facebook, SMS, voice
- A large app marketplace and agency ecosystem if you already run a support team
Where it falls short for POD
Gorgias's AI Agent really does change Shopify orders - that part is true, and it is good. The problem is where the change stops. Their own documentation says: "When AI Agent uses Cancel order in Shopify or Edit order shipping address in Shopify, it only makes these changes in Shopify. The cancellation does not get passed along to other 3rd-party logistics (3PL) or order fulfillment apps." For a print-on-demand store, that is the whole ballgame: the order that matters lives at Printify, not in Shopify. A cancel that stops at Shopify leaves the shirt printing and the charge already on your account, and a corrected address that never reaches the printer ships to the old one anyway. Podley reads the fulfiller first and acts where the order actually is.
A worked month
Assumption you can change: a 300-ticket month where about half (150) get an AI-drafted resolution and the rest need a human touch - a typical mix for a small POD store. Change the split and the totals below move with it; the shape of the comparison does not.

What Podley is, and isn't
Podley only does one thing: print-on-demand customer service, from your Gmail, checking the live order in Shopify and Printify before it drafts a word, in your own voice - and it never touches money without your say. It doesn't run a live chat widget, Instagram DMs, or phone support. If you need a full multi-channel helpdesk for a support team, one of the tools above is probably the right call.
